They are trained and have the knowledge needed to identify stroke symptoms and promptly notify the Emergency Department at Memorial Hospital to activate our stroke protocol. When it comes to stroke, time is critical in saving lives. (As soon as the Stroke Protocol is activated, all departments are notified and ready to initiate stroke care upon the patient’s arrival. Lab, pharmacy, and radiology are all notified and ready to perform their life-saving function for the patient.)
