This breast-feeding support group is hosted for moms and their newborns. Subject areas include weight checks, mom-to-mom support, and mom and baby transitions at home such as pumping and returning to work and adding solids.

Class offers prenatal preparation and guidance for breast-feeding. This class is FREE for moms who deliver at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. $15.00 for any mom not delivering at Memorial Hospital. One-session class that is FREE for moms who deliver at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. You will receive an e-mail class confirmation regarding payment, it's standard messaging response for all our classes. It is recommended that both mother and the spouse or support person who will assist the mother attend the classes as support is key to breast-feeding success.

Jasper, Ind. – Do you have a family history of cancer? Do you have a gene that tends to run in your family? Gynecologist Steven Hopf, M.D. will present “Exploring Genetic Testing” on Thursday, May 2 from 7 – 8 p.m. in the Medical Arts Conference Center located in the Medical Arts Building, 721 W. 13th Street in Jasper. He will discuss genetic testing for breast, ovary, and other cancers, reasons to be tested, and the pros and cons of knowing if you have a gene that increases risks. Laurelin Doty will also share her personal experience of carrying the BRCA gene for breast cancer. A native of Jasper, Indiana, Dr. Hopf earned his Doctor of Medicine degree from Indiana University School of Medicine where he also completed his Obstetrics/Gynecology residency education. Dr. Hopf joined the Memorial Hospital Medical Staff in 1997 and is board certified in OB/GYN. This American Heart Association course provides information on how to manage illness and injuries until professional help arrives on the scene. The class consists of four core modules: General Principles of First Aid, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. Skills taught include adult and infant CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. In order to receive a course completion card, participants must pass a written first aid test and a skills evaluation in CPR and AED.
