Class offers prenatal preparation and guidance for breast-feeding. This class is FREE for moms who deliver at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. $15.00 for any mom not delivering at Memorial Hospital. You will receive an e-mail class confirmation regarding payment, it's standard messaging response for all our classes. It is recommended that both mother and the spouse or support person who will assist the mother attend the classes, as support is key to breast-feeding success. Just the Mom's need to register. You do not need to confirm your reservation.
Breastfeeding: Getting Started

This breast-feeding support group is hosted for moms and their newborns. Subject areas include weight checks, mom-to-mom support, and mom and baby transitions at home such as pumping and returning to work and adding solids.

According to the Skin Cancer Foundation, more people are diagnosed with skin cancer each year in the United States than all other cancers combined, and one person dies of melanoma every hour. With the summer upon us, Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is presenting “Understanding Skin Cancer & the Importance of Cancer Screenings and Prevention” on Thursday, July 11 from 6:00 – 7:15 p.m. in Jasper, Indiana. Oncologist Karim Anwar, M.D. will discuss the different types of skin cancer, screening guidelines, and tips for prevention. This presentation will be held in the Medical Arts Conference Center, located in the Medical Arts Building, 721 W. 13th Street, Jasper. A free dinner will be provided. To pre-register for the “Understanding Skin Cancer” program, please call Memorial Hospital’s Marketing Department at 812-996-2352, or go online to www.mhhcc.org and click on “Classes and Events.” Deadline to register is Friday, July 5.

This American Heart Association course provides information on how to manage illness and injuries until professional help arrives on the scene. The class consists of four core modules: General Principles of First Aid, Medical Emergencies, Injury Emergencies, and Environmental Emergencies. Skills taught include adult and infant CPR, AED use, and relief of choking in adults, children and infants. In order to receive a course completion card, participants must pass a written first aid test and a skills evaluation in CPR and AED.

The course provides the foundation for saving lives after cardiac arrest. Students work with an AHA BLS Instructor to complete BLS skills practice and skills testing.
