2021 LCM Outstanding Physician Award Nominees

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has announced the names of the top six physicians nominated for the ninth annual Little Company of Mary Outstanding Physician Award. They are Adam Dawkins, M.D.; Isaac Gatwood, M.D.; Eric Hartman, M.D.; Frank Hopkins, M.D.; Joshua Leonard, M.D.; and Kristin Werne, M.D. This award is named in honor of the Little Company of Mary Sisters - USA, the sponsors of Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.

This award is based on outstanding job performance reflecting Memorial Hospital’s Mission Statement and the Core Values of Respect for Human Dignity, Compassionate Caring, Stewardship, Quality and Justice. To be accepted as a nominee, a physician must be classified as a member of the hospital’s medical staff for a minimum of twelve months and be in good standing with the medical staff.

Dr. Adam Dawkins received his medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine and completed a residency in internal medicine at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis where he also completed a fellowship in cardiology. He is board certified in cardiovascular disease by the American Board of Internal Medicine. Dr. Dawkins is a cardiologist at Heartland Cardiology, 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper.

Dr. Isaac Gatwood received his bachelor's degree from University of Notre Dame and his medical degree from Indiana University School of Medicine in Indianapolis. He completed a residency in family medicine at Deaconess Health System in Evansville, Indiana. Dr. Gatwood is board certified in family medicine and sees patients at Memorial Health Bristow, 26020 State Rd. 145 in Bristow, Indiana.

Dr. Eric Hartman received his medical degree from University of Arkansas for Medical Sciences College of Medicine in Little Rock, and completed his residency at St. Francis Family Medicine Residency in Indianapolis. He is a diplomat of the American Board of Family Medicine and is a member of the American Academy of Family Physicians and the Indiana Academy of Family Physicians. Dr. Hartman is board certified in family medicine and provides hospitalist services at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, 800 W. 9th Street in Jasper.

Dr. Frank Hopkins attended Ross University in Dominica, West Indies, and completed both his internship and residency at St. Luke's Hospital in St. Louis, Missouri, where he also served as chief resident in medicine. Dr. Hopkins is board certified in internal medicine and geriatric medicine and sees patients at Memorial Health Internal Medicine, 751 9th Street in Jasper.

Dr. Joshua Leonard received his medical degree at Southern Illinois University School of Medicine in Springfield and completed a residency in internal medicine at Wake Forest University Medical Center in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, where he also completed fellowships in cardiology and interventional cardiology. He holds board certification in cardiovascular disease and interventional cardiology. Dr. Leonard is a cardiologist at Heartland Cardiology, 440 Scott Rolen Drive in Jasper.

Dr. Kristin Werne received her medical degree at Indiana University School of Medicine, and completed a residency in obstetrics and gynecology at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. Dr. Werne is board certified in obstetrics and gynecology and is a physician at Jasper Obstetrics and Gynecology, located at 613 Dorbett Street in Jasper.
