Washington, Ind. – Many professional drivers are required to get physicals on a regular basis. Memorial Health Washington now has a certified practitioner to make it easy for commercial drivers to fulfill Department of Transportation (DOT) regulatory requirements. Tina Kelley, NP has received a certified medical examiner (CME) license and is able to perform DOT exams.

Federal law requires drivers of commercial motor vehicles (CMVs) to receive regular physical examinations. The official name for these exams is "Department of Transportation Medical Examinations," but it's often shortened to "DOT physicals." DOT physicals are designed to detect physical, mental, and emotional issues that can impact a CMV driver's ability to safely spend long hours on the road. Because there are so many regulations for commercial drivers, the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA) only allows certified medical examiners (CMEs) to perform DOT exams.

Tina Kelley is a certified nurse practitioner and a life-long resident of Washington. Kelley has over 19 years of nursing experience, including urgent care and emergency services, as well as post-surgical and general medicine.
