Tonya Heim Receives HIV Leadership Award

Tonya Heim, Vice President of Patient Services and Chief Nursing Officer at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center, was awarded the Myreon Taylor HIV Leadership Award during the Tri-State Alliance’s Mr. Heavensville Competition on November 22, 2019. Tonya was the founder of the Patoka Valley HIV/AIDS Community Action Group in 1990 and has been a leading advocate for HIV prevention education in Southern Indiana.

Tonya earned her nursing diploma at Deaconess Hospital School of Nursing, and holds bachelor’s degrees in organizational management from Oakland City University and nursing from University of Southern Indiana (USI). She also has master’s degrees in health administration and nursing from USI. Tonya volunteers on several boards and committees, helps with fundraising, outreach and education. She received the Amelia K. Sloan Lectureship Award from APIC Indiana in 1985, the Distinguished Service Award from Holland Kiwanis Club in 2009, and the Rotary Club of Jasper’s ATHENA Award in 2017.
