Dr. Laurie Wilbanks Appointed to Medical Staff

Ophthalmologist Laurie Wilbanks, M.D. was recently appointed to the active medical staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. She will be joining Dr. Judy Englert at Southern Indiana Eye Associates, 200 St. Charles Street, in Jasper.

Dr. Wilbanks received her bachelor of science degree from Purdue University in West Lafayette. She attended the University of Louisville School of Medicine where she earned her doctor of medicine with distinction in research. The Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston chose her for their competitive surgical internship and residency in ophthalmology at the Storm Eye Institute.

As a resident, Dr. Wilbanks distinguished herself as a clinician, surgeon, and scholar. She has presented research spanning a range of topics at national ophthalmology meetings. In addition, she has experience in international outreach in ophthalmology. Dr. Wilbanks is a board-eligible ophthalmologist proficient in all aspects of general ophthalmic care including cataract surgery, glaucoma, diagnosis of acute retinal disorders, diabetic eye disease, and macular degeneration.
