Important news about our Anthem contract at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center

A few months ago, we were informed by Anthem that our contract with them would expire on November 27, 2019. While our focus remains on renewing this contract to preserve your continued access to Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s high-quality, dedicated providers and staff, we have yet to reach a mutually-agreed upon contract.

It is important to realize that for now, nothing changes for you and your family. You can continue to receive care with us at in network benefit rates. However, if we are no longer a part of Anthem’s network, you will likely pay higher out of pocket fees to use Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center’s services, which includes any specialist, primary care provider, or hospital service.

Because caring for you and your family is of the utmost importance to us, we want you to have as much information as possible, so you can understand what might happen if we don’t come to an agreement with Anthem by November 27, 2019:

  • Where can I go to get the most up-to-date information and answers to commonly asked questions?
  • Why is a new contract being negotiated?
    • Contract negotiations are part of the normal working relationship between health plans and providers, like Anthem and Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. We are working in good faith to reach an agreement that will allow us to operate more efficiently and provide affordable, award winning patient care for you and your family.
  • What if I already have services or a procedure scheduled at a Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center facility after the contract-end date?
    • You may qualify for Anthem’s Continuity of Care benefits. Patients who qualify can receive the same care or procedure they scheduled at in network rates at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center after the contract end date. Please contact Anthem as soon as possible by calling the number on the back of your insurance card to see if you are eligible for Continuity of Care.
  • If after visiting our website, you still have questions, please call our dedicated phone line at (812) 996-6399, or contact Anthem by calling the number on the back of your insurance card.

We understand these negotiations may be worrisome for you. Please be assured we are doing all we can to minimize any disruption in your care. We are honored to serve you – our friends, families and neighbors. We are doing our best to reach an agreement to protect both the quality of care you deserve and your access to caregivers you trust closer to home.
