Urologist Amit Chakrabarty, M.D., M.S., F.R.C.S., F.I.C.S, is a member of the active Medical staff at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center.  He is a Board certified urologist who received his medical degree with honors from MKCG Medical College in Berhampur, India in 1980, and his Master of Surgery degree from Post Graduate Institute of Medical Education and Research, Chandigarh, India. He did a fellowship in Surgery at the Royal College of Surgeons in Edinburgh in 1987. He completed his residency in Urology and fellowship in Uro-Oncology (Research) at Wayne State University in Detroit, Michigan in 1995.

Dr. Amit Chakrabarty practices adult and pediatric urology. He was the past Chairman of the Urologic Clinics of North Alabama. He holds professional responsibilities as Director at Comprehensive Continence Center and Center for Female Pelvic Health of North Alabama.

Though his practice encompasses all branches of Urology, one of his main areas of interest is in the field of female urology including urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse and minimally invasive therapies for Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH). He is an active member and contributor of International Continence Society (ICS), National Association for Continence (NAFC), Society of Urodynamics and Female Urology (SUFU) and International Uro-Gynecologist Association (IUGA).

He has several publications, presentations and posters, mostly in the field of male and female urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse at the national and international meetings and journals. He is a national and international surgical proctor for male and female urinary incontinence and pelvic floor prolapse. He is an invited speaker for urology topics of interest for CME and non CME forums.
