Strassenfest Wettlauf
Registrations are now being accepted for the 2010 Wettlauf 5K Road Race & Fitness Walk, which will be held at the Strassenfest in Jasper on Saturday, August 7th. The race will begin at 8:00 a.m. ET at the corner of 9th & Main streets. The course includes rolling, paved city streets, and the route will be well-marked and policed, have water stations and mile splits.

Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is offering Lifeline, a medical alert assistance service for those who wish to live independently in their homes while maintaining an immediate emergency link to the hospital.

Memorial Quick Care Opening at Santa Claus Family Medicine
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is opening Memorial Quick Care, medical care for common illnesses and minor injuries, for those visiting southern Indiana this summer. Memorial Quick Care will offer treatment for minor wounds and burns; ear, bladder and urinary infections; insect bites; sprains and bruises; aches and pains; sore throats; stomach aches; coughing; allergies and more.

Sr. Maura Beckman Named 2010 LCM Award Recipient
Sr. Maura Beckman, OSB, has been named the 2010 Little Company of Mary Award recipient at Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center. The LCM Award is given annually to an employee nominated by his or her co-workers and chosen from a group of finalists by the hospital’s Mission Committee. Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has announced the recipients of the 2010 Service Awards. Through the annual service awards, the hospital recognizes its employees for their consecutive years of service. This year’s 192 recipients have collectively given 2,385 years of service.

Wellness Coaching
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center is offering a program for those who are ready to make a positive change and improve their overall health. The “Healthy Start” coaching program is a series of phone conversations with a wellness coach to determine how the participant wants to improve his or her health over a twelve-week period by setting realistic wellness goals that focus on nutrition, fitness, stress, and general health concerns.

Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center Adds Music Therapy To Its Integrative Medicine Program
Memorial Hospital and Health Care Center has teamed up with the University of Evansville to bring music therapy to cancer patients at the Lange-Fuhs Cancer Center. According to the American Cancer Society, evidence has shown that music therapy can reduce high blood pressure, rapid heart beat, depression, and sleeplessness. Some medical experts also believe it can reduce some symptoms, aid healing, improve physical movement, and enrich a patient’s quality of life.
